I too follow the model you described, using tools like Goggle docs, and asking for trusted editing. And you are 100% correct -- it's very important to be open to advice. I found myself getting hammered at Forrester by my editors - and I thought I was a pretty good writer. But the result of the scrutiny was always a better document. I feel that when someone helps edit your document it's a sign of great respect. They invest time that they feel is worthwhile.
